Charming Stay in Bavaria
Fussen, Germany, is located in Bavaria, right near the Alps and the Austrian border. It’s a beautiful town full of nature and history, and it is close to historic castles. If you plan a trip to Fussen, I highly recommend the small family-run Dreimaderlhaus Boutique Hotel. The owners are very health-conscious, and they fuse their love of wellness with how they run their place. There are many reasons any crunchy traveler should make a stop here.
Welcome
When you first step inside Dreimaderlhaus, you are warmly welcomed. The essential oil diffuser makes the room smell amazing. Fresh water infused with herbs is also available at check-in.
The lounge/check-in area is charming.
The Beauty
This boutique hotel is located right next to Lake Weisssensee. Several rooms offer gorgeous views of the lake. Everyone can enjoy the view at breakfast and take in the scenery right off the deck. The building has a traditional Alpine feel. The rooms all have a different look, but they all have rustic charm. Each one is thoughtfully decorated. Across the street, some cows graze in the field. I loved hearing their bells ringing. There is a garden you can stroll around down below the deck.
The Food
The owners of Dreimaderlhaus take great pride in their breakfast offerings. Their cozy dining area overlooks the lake, and breakfast is buffet-style. Each morning, there are different pastry/bread options. There is usually a homemade sweet dish, too. There are plenty of vegan options. Their homemade spreads are so delicious! They also offer local dairy and cheeses. You can request eggs made to order. Simone and Michael make the breakfasts themselves. They have their own garden, honey bees, and chickens for eggs. The food is organic whenever possible. When they aren’t able to supply their kitchen themselves, they get everything as fresh and local as possible. While there aren’t any meat options, you won’t miss it. Everything is so fresh and filling. Breakfast was my favorite part of staying here.
Local Activities
When you stay here, you are encouraged to get out into nature. Every room comes with a hiking backpack you can borrow for the day. If you order in advance, you can get lunch to bring along with your hiking adventure. Some trails go around the lake in front of the hotel. Fussen is a great jumping-off point. Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle are close by. About 20 minutes from Fussen is a natural skincare brand store named Primavera, and you can visit their main store and gardens. Right next door, at another hotel, there is a great Italian Restaurant called Osteria Seespitz. Yummy and authentic Italian food.
They Care About Wi-Fi Exposure
As a crunchy girl, I was delighted to see that they turned off the Wi-Fi at night from 10:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to minimize radiation exposure. I turn off my Wi-Fi at night at home because it’s such an easy way to limit EMF exposure—or maybe I’m just paranoid! Either way, I was super excited that someone else out there is as concerned as me! Thank you Dreimaderlhaus!
If you visit Bavaria, I really hope you have a chance to stay at Dreimaderlhaus. If I ever find myself back in Fussen, I will stay here again.
